Swimming While It’s Raining

Writing

By Bryce Walker

Last time we went swimming

The sea stood up and hugged you

As though you were responsible

For keeping it blue

I’m at the edge looking down

The sun beckoned low, and your voice felt high

With nothing but the glimmering sea beneath me

The eternal abyss feels higher than some devil

So I decide to jump, just to escape the sound

I wonder if you will hear the splash, far in the background
