Representing Pain

Writing

By Claire Singer

My bones are weeping

The pain stretches down deep within me, as if I’m a portal to some greater consciousness of Jewish pain and memory.

I ache with the sorrow of all we’ve experienced.

I ache with hurt and brokenness.

Of course we’ll eventually move on.

But for now –

we ache.

How do I hold myself

When I feel like my heart is pouring through my chest

My pain is settled along my bones

My hurt is saturating me.

How do I hold myself

With broken arms?
