70 Faces is a platform for students to explore concepts that are important to them through new and open-minded perspectives. 70 Faces is fluid, its foundation resting in an embrace of diverse ideas and values. Our magazine was first thought into creation in 2015 by a group of students who wanted to build a publication which lived and breathed new perspectives by its very name; the term “70 Faces” comes from the idea that there are 70 ways to interpret the Torah. Judaism is and has always been about asking questions and seeking answers. Whether those answers lead us to an endpoint or just lead us to ask more questions, we find that the journey of thinking Jewishly can teach us a lot about ourselves and our relationship to the world around us.
And as we embrace the many ways we can interpret Jewish ideas and texts, 70 Faces Magazine similarly reflects this idea of a multi-dimensional way of perceiving the world. As a student-led magazine, we are constantly being re-branded and re-built by the students that pass through our loving city of Pittsburgh. Like so many things, we are always changing.
So yeah, that’s us in a nutshell. Other stuff you should know? We love having events, so come find us if you have an idea you’d like us to help out with. We recently put together some playlists for your enjoyment because, well, why not? And in general, we’re hoping to make the world a little bit less scary by shedding some light on the good stuff in it.
So sit back, relax, and stay a while. You may even learn something new about yourself.
Love,
The 70 Faces team
